Cranberry cookie bars

Description

Thick squares of cranberry cookie bars are stacked on a round, speckled stoneware plate with a toasted brown rim. Their tops are crackled and golden, baked into a craggy, buttery crust, and the cut sides reveal a soft, cakey crumb studded with plump, glossy cranberries in deep ruby red. A few crumbs are scattered across the plate. Behind, softly out of focus, sit a wooden bowl heaped with fresh cranberries and a whole orange beside a cut half showing its juicy segments, while a red-and-white striped dish towel peeks in at the corner. The warm light and rustic wooden table give the scene a cozy, holiday-baking feel.
