Merlot candied kumquats

This jelly like sauce goes great with your baked ham.

1 c kumquat (tart kumquats)
1⁄2 c wine (Merlot wine)
1⁄4 c water
2 c sugar (granulated)
10 clove (chole)
3 cinnamon (cinnamon sticks, 3/4 inch each)

  1. Using a sharp knife cut the kumquats in half. Remove the seeds and place the halves in a pot of cold water just to cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 -10 min. Drain and cover with cold water.
  2. In a large heavy bottom pot, add all ingredients except for the kumquats. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 min. or until it begins to thicken. Add the kumquats and simmer an additional 5 minutes
